But I stopped at some point, and this turned into a place where I just promoted my projects and gave generic, general updates. It meant I posted less and less, and I know I'm trying to turn that around. When you make stuff like comics and books and try to talk about them and promote them online, there's a pressure to be positive constantly. Like when you're actively trying to provide paths for escapism for people, a lot of people get unhappy when you drag reality into things.
But things are stressful.
Sometimes we're just holding ourselves together with tape and string, and hoping no one notices. Besides the massively important Wisconsin Supreme Court election on Tuesday (vote Crawford by the way), the outside world isn't the only pressure. My grandmother is going into hospice, and that brings its own set of stuff. I've got a family of people who are all concerned about everyone else's well being, and not enough people taking care of themselves.
And, like, for the record, I am fine. I will be fine. We have a lot of fighting to do, and I have no intention of giving up. But, like, shit is stressful, y'know? And I think it's important to acknowledge that stress. I write these things not because I need support, but to acknowledge that they exist. To say "sometimes things are hard and we're all human."
Because we are.
And me move forward as best we can.
Remember that on April 5th at 11AM Eastern/10AM Central you can join me for the Critical Thinking Witches' Collective's April Brew virtual event! Attendance is free, and you can register here!
hehe it’s funny cause he doesn’t know who he is talking to
Meanwhile, topless Elvis sets fire to the building…
Here come a stupid ‘Well actually’ thing… would staff badges even have numbers like attendee ones?
In Bork Con’s reg system,
1. Staff badges have numbers
2. Badge numbers go with the people, so a person keeps their number year ro year even if they change badge types
Thanks for the info. Our staff badges don’t have numbers, yet. When they do they’ll be separate from attendee numbers since they’re in different databases.
Pretty much every furry convention, staff badges have numbers too. They’re not treated any different from attendees in that regard. Typically Anthrocon gives the Board of Directors the single-digits, though ours shift from year to year (I’ve been 2, 4, 6, and 7 in my years on the board). I was ‘2’ every year I was the reg director.
Yes, our con badges had numbers just like regular attendees. Some people have the same badge number at multiple cons.
Max should know Terrence if only by reputation.
Laserlike focus on absolutely the wrong thing. Yeah, I’ve seen people like that.
Like the teacher who yells at you for pda holing your so’s hand while students shes actually in charge of are#$@&ing in the dorm (pretty much what happened to me and my gf in hs)
We were the hand holing couple to be clear
It’s been a couple of months since I’ve had the feeling of anticipation for the next comic in a series. Congratulations, you’ve rekindled that feeling. I am very excited for the next strip. I see nerds on power trips every con, and I can’t wait to see Terrance get his comeuppance!
Yeesss. Con staffers, volunteers, and attendees alike have encountered the Power Triper.
1. Why are there numbers on the badges?
2. Why does the number follow the person? If they stop coming, is that number still skipped?
I’m asking for a friend :-]
1. Many cons implement badge numbers, which allow lost badges to be returned to their owners, give the con an easy way to look up an attendee, and a a host of other advantages.
2. Some cons have numbers follow people year to year (it’s pretty easy to implement in an online reg system). And yes, if that person stops coming the number is skipped.
Thanks for replying!
